I read somewhere that the Kawana is a hybrid between the Clifton and the Hupana, which makes so much sense because the Hupana was a lifestyle shoe that needed updating. The Kawana is the perfect athleisure shoe for those who like the Hoka look but don't run.
So the next morning, I pulled out the Hoka Kawana sneakers I'd packed for when I thought I'd go to the gym (spoiler, I never did). Yeah, this shoe doesn't really make any sense in hokas lineup. If you want to make a gym shoe, make one that works for lifting with a narrow/firm midsole and either no or minimal drop, which goes against the ethos of hoka in the first place. Cons. Slightly firmer than other Hoka shoes. The Arahi 6 is designed to halt inward rolling of the foot on landing, so if you overpronate this could be a good shoe for you. They offer superior
Stiffness. In the era of hyper-cushioned, stiff, and aggressively rockered running shoes, the Hoka Mach 5 felt like a nice break. It has a pretty flexible nature which contributes to the shoe's overall comfort. It bent in all the right places helping our foot feel free and maneuverable.
That being said, if you are a fan of Clifton Edge, you might be a big fan of the lighter and more responsive Hoka Kawana.
