The ECM contains DPF software, which controls the monitoring and operation of the DPF system and also monitors other vehicle data to determine regeneration periods and service intervals. The DPF software can be divided into 3 separate control software modules; a DPF supervisor module, a DPF fuel management module and a DPF air management module. I had another mondeo previously with the same engine and way able to easily get 45mpg on the motorway. I plugged diagnostics in and went another drive down the motorway looking at dpf spot levels and whether the vapouriser was on indicating regens. The car seems to do a regen when the spot levels get to around 75-80%. got 269f recently, deleted popped up again, car run fine but it tried to regenerate every 10 miles (pretty annoying) forced regen wasnt able to run, so I started digging where the hell this fuse is on my mk4 120 kw (2012) - it was the F6 in the engine fuse box (20A), obviously blown, changed it, deleted dtcs and it runs sweet like a charm now. hope it helps
I don't know the exact figures to expect but a new one at Idle should be near 0, maybe 0.1 or 0.2. If it is close to 1 or more than 1 then the DPF is quite blocked.

My 2.2 started making clouds of smoke at the onset of the regen process when the car had been driven some 125,000 km's (80,000 miles). I'm confident that the 'smoke' was actually unburnt fuel, instead. Smoking stopped when I reset the dpf learned values. So I believe that ECU changed its regen strategy as it thought the filter was 'new'.

Hi, having had the same warning come on my car 2011 2.0tdci I started investigating: Happened twice on longer runs, car probably trying to regen, it looks like it might be the fuel vapouriser in the dpf, these get blocked so the dpf can't regen as its basically a glow plug that helps to burns extra fuel put into the dpf when it needs a regen.
